Live Interent coverage of the South and Central American Total Solar Eclipse will be presented by FUJIMIC.INC. on Feb.26.

Fujimic, Inc. (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Isao Teranuma) will present live coverage of the South and Central American total solar eclipse thanks to the cooperation of COVESOL (a local observation association in Venezuela). The images, provided by T-NET and CANTV (local Internet service providers in Venezuela), will be visible on the Internet pages at Fujimic Inc. Live coverage of the event is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Venezuela in Tokyo and Fujitsu BSC. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President Koichi Onoe).

The total solar eclipse will begin over the sea off Peru, go through Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela and out to the Caribbean Sea. Although the eclipse will not be observed from Japan, it is expected to be clearly visible in high alititude areas close to the equator. Many observation teams from the United States and Europe will gather to see the phenomenon. Also many Japanese nationals will visit there to gaze up and behold the black sun.

The eclipse will begin at around 12:30 local mean time and end at around 16:00 LMT. The total eclipse will begin at 14:04 and continue for about three minutes. This will occur from 1:30 to 5:00 JST and the total eclipse will begin from 3:04 JST. This is not a good time for viewers in Japan due to the time difference so Fujimic will provide a digest page covering highlights of the event.
